Things to consider before seeking spouse

  • Prayer and Du'a (Supplication): Turn to Allah in prayer and supplication. Ask Him for guidance in finding a righteous and compatible life partner. Trust in His wisdom and timing, as Allah knows what is best for you. "And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'" (Quran, Surah Ghafir, 40:60)
  • Seek Allah's Help: Seeking a spouse is an important decision. Rely on Allah's help and seek His assistance in finding the right person. Hadith Reference: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When a man marries, he has completed one-half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half." (Tirmidhi)
  • Consultation with Family: Involve your parents or guardians in the process. Seek their advice and counsel, as they have your best interests at heart and can offer valuable insights. "And those who say, 'Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous." (Quran, Surah Al-Furqan, 25:74)
  • Character and Piety: Prioritize character and piety over external factors. Look for a spouse who demonstrates good Islamic values, manners, and adherence to the teachings of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "A woman may be married for four reasons: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty, and her religious commitment. Choose the one who is religiously committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may you prosper)." (Sunan Ibn Majah)
  • Halal Interaction:Interact with potential matches in a halal (permissible) manner. Avoid private or inappropriate conversations and maintain modesty and respect. Hadith Reference: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whenever a man is alone with a woman, Satan (Shaytan) is the third among them." (Al-Tirmidhi)
